Two Houses Gutted in Massive Fire at Bakhaya, Karnah; Major Tragedy Averted

Kupwara, Nov 6: A massive fire broke out on Thursday evening in the Bakhaya area of Karnah Tangdhar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, causing extensive damage to two residential houses before being brought under control.

Officials said that immediately after the incident was reported, teams from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), local police, and Army personnel from a nearby camp rushed to the spot and launched a joint firefighting operation with assistance from local residents.

The coordinated efforts of the rescue teams and locals successfully prevented the flames from spreading to adjacent houses, thereby averting a major tragedy in the densely populated locality.

While property worth several lakhs of rupees was destroyed in the blaze, no loss of life or injury was reported.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, which is suspected to have resulted from an electrical short circuit.

Local residents have appreciated the timely and coordinated response of the F&ES, police, and Army personnel in containing the fire and safeguarding lives and property.
