Unauthorized Macadam Plant Sealed in North Kashmir’s Baramulla After Smoke Outrage

Baramulla : Nov29 : Taking major action, A plant has been sealed In Baramulla. To prevent environmental pollution And protect the health of the general public, the Baramulla district Administration has Sealed an unauthorized Macadam plant operating in Gantmulla, Nowshera. This action was taken following continuous media reports and increasing complaints from local people, who were expressing serious concerns about the dense smoke emanating from the plant.

The plant, located on the Baramulla-Uri National Highway, was running without any necessary permissions and was emitting huge amounts of smoke during operation. Due to this, air pollution was increasing rapidly in the surrounding residential areas _ Nowshera, Pirnia, Gantmulla, Pahalipora and other nearby settlements. Local residents had long complained of difficulty breathing, eye irritation and other health problems, which were directly linked to the toxic fumes emanating from the plant. Environmental activists and social organizations had also raised serious concerns about its long-term impact on the fragile environment of the region.

In view of the increasing public pressure, the district administration team inspected the plant and found it being operated in violation of environmental standards and in the absence of mandatory approvals. Thereafter the authorities issued an order to immediately seal the plant and assured that strict action would be taken against any such illegal activity in future. A senior administration official said, “The health and safety of our citizens is our top priority. Any activity that harms the environment or public health will not be tolerated. Further investigation into the matter is underway.” Locals have welcomed the action and hope that the move will also serve as a strong message to other illegal industrial activities in the area. This incident highlights how careful media reporting and community awareness play an important role in ensuring environmental protection and public interest.
