Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to J&K deferred due to inclement weather


JAMMU, JAN 08 : The scheduled visit of the Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir, slated for January 9, 2024, has been deferred due to prevailing inclement weather conditions and the forecast thereof.

The minister was set to participate in the Vikasit Bharat Sankalpa Yatra in Jammu, where he would have inaugurated projects worth Rs 1379 crores, including the introduction of E-buses in Jammu city. Additionally, he had plans to lay the foundation stone for projects amounting to Rs 2348 crores and distribute appointment letters to individuals appointed on compassionate grounds.
The itinerary also included a comprehensive review of the security and development scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, the Union Minister was scheduled to visit Dera Ki Gali in the Poonch sector to meet the families of civilians who recently lost their lives in the area.
However, taking into consideration the adverse weather conditions, the minister’s visit has been postponed. The new schedule will be announced in due course, and the administration assures that all aspects of the visit will be conducted with the utmost priority for safety and well-being.
