Valedictory of 5-Day Training Programme on Natural Farming organised  at KVK Pulwama

Srinagar, March 26: The five-day training programme on Natural Farming for Krishi Sakhis, organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Pulwama under the National Mission on Natural Farming, successfully concluded today with a valedictory function attended by, scientists, agricultural experts, officers/officials fro KVK and JKRLM Pulwama.

The programme aimed to equip Krishi Sakhis with scientific knowledge and practical skills to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly natural farming practices at the grassroots level. It was designed to strengthen their role as para-extension workers, enabling them to disseminate this knowledge within their respective clusters. A total of 12 Krishi Sakhis from six clusters of Pulwama district participated in the training.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Ganie, Scientist at KVK Pulwama, who provided an overview of the training and emphasized the crucial role of Krishi Sakhis in the National Mission on Natural Farming. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Scientist & Head of KVK Pulwama highlighted the importance of natural farming in ensuring soil health, reducing input costs, and improving farm productivity. He encouraged the participants to implement the techniques they had learned and to act as ambassadors of natural farming in their respective areas.

Dr. Towseef Ahmad Wani, Master Trainer, stressed that natural farming is the need of the hour to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance farmers’ income.

The training programme concluded with the distribution of training kits, which included bags, a technical manual on natural farming, a brief note on the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), awareness posters on natural farming, and other relevant materials. During the feedback session, the Krishi Sakhis expressed gratitude for the valuable practical insights gained during the training. Certificates were distributed to the participants, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Syed Shuja, who acknowledged the efforts of the resource persons and participants in making the event a success
