SRINAGAR, NOV 27: The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, reiterated on Monday that the battle against terrorism in the Union Territory is not fully over yet as war ends only when one side accepts defeat.
Swain emphasized that the conflict persists until one side concedes defeat and acknowledges that further bloodshed will not yield meaningful results.
Despite facing occasional setbacks, he steadfastly affirmed the commitment to persist in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
Addressing reporters at an event held at Gurdwara Chattipadshahi in Srinagar, DGP Swain made it unequivocal that there is no intention for the police to retreat from the continuous struggle against terrorism.
Responding to a query about infiltration, he acknowledged the fluctuating nature of infiltration levels, noting that they may escalate or decrease at different times. However, he stressed the sensitivity of such matters, emphasizing that discussions about them should not be disclosed in the public domain.
On the preceding Tuesday, the DGP had issued a cautionary advisory, urging residents to remain vigilant in the face of potential threats from external adversaries.
Emphasizing the significant menace posed by cross-border terrorism, the police chief underscored the formidable nature of this challenge.
Despite the complexities involved, he sought to reassure the public by affirming that the government of India is resolute and determined to effectively counter and overcome the persistent threat of cross-border terrorism.
The statement aimed to instill confidence in the community, assuring them that proactive measures and a steadfast commitment are in place to address and neutralize any security challenges arising from external sources.
On the auspicious occasion of Gurupurab, during which tributes were paid to Guru Nanak Devji, DGP Swain expressed that the police, on this sacred day, renewed their commitment to serving the community.
He underscored the enduring relevance of Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings, highlighting the principles of equality and unity that transcend distinctions of caste, color, and creed.
Swain extended his heartfelt wishes to the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the timeless wisdom embedded in Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings that offer guidance to all.
Meanwhile, the DGP in a message also extended greetings to the families of martyrs, serving police personnel, security forces, and the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary.
In his message, the DGP stated that Guru Nanak Devji’s message of equality, universal brotherhood, oneness, and compassion for all continues to guide and inspire humanity. He further emphasized that the values inherent in the teachings of the great Guru should serve as a guiding force in preserving the unity and secular outlook of our country.
