Will campaign for NC if it ensures release of only 10% of arrested youth: Bukhari

‘Won’t stop anywhere, will reach every nook & corner of Kashmir’

Srinagar, May 7: The former minister and Apni Party President, Syed Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday challenged the National Conference (NC) to get only 10 per cent of the arrested youth released and he will in return ask his candidate to withdraw and will launch door-to-door campaign to seek votes for the party (NC).
Addressing the workers at Arizal area of Budgam, Bukhari said that it is unfortunate and shameful that those who have not done anything for the people here, have been seeking votes for their candidates during the ongoing Lok Sabha polls in Jammu & Kashmir.

“What has NC done in the past five years? For what purpose, you are seeking vote, what have they done,” Bukhari said and added that “I challenge NC to get only 10 per cent of the prisoners released and I will ask my candidate to withdraw and will launch door-to-door campaign to seek votes for NC.”
He added that despite facing the difficult situation, Apni Party and Altaf Bukhari emerged to work for the welfare of the people.
“I was not in power, but I fought to ensure that the lands and jobs are protected for the locals here. I worked hard to get 3000 persons released, and also the jailed leaders, who were relishing different cuisines inside the jails,” Bukhari said.
Furthermore, he said that whether the people vote for the Apni Party or not, Altaf Bukhari is not going to stoop anywhere and will reach every nook and corner of the Valley.
Pertinently, the rallies and road shows are marking the election fervor across Kashmir. The Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency is going for voting on May 13, 2024 while North Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency and Anantnag-Rajouri constituency will go for the polling on May 20 and 25 respectively.
Notably, the elections for Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat was deferred from May 07 to May 25 after the leader from different parties raised the issue of Mughal Road closure with the Election Commission of India.
