Youth empowerment receives a major boost in J&K

Srinagar June 21: Youth empowerment has significantly advanced in the past three years, with thousands receiving financial support through various schemes to start their business units in Jammu and Kashmir.
The government has been setting up polytechnics and industrial institutes to make Jammu and Kashmir youth more employable.
Mission Youth has been launched for the empowerment of the young population of J&K. They are also being provided free coaching under the Parvaaz scheme of the mission. The scheme involves collaborations with top institutions in the country and the establishment of over five thousand clubs with a membership of over 1 lakh youngsters.
“Youth are being provided with Small Electric Vehicles at subsidized rates under the MUMKIN scheme. Brilliant students are being provided scholarships worth Rs 1 lakh each under the LG-75 and Super B-75 Scholarship schemes. Free coaching is being provided to aspirants of competitive exams whose annual family income is less than Rs 8 lakh,” an official said.
The official said the government has been empowering youth. “Government has been providing them all possible support to start their startups and to make their earnings,” the official said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with the 10 startups identified by the J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) during the Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K program at SKICC.
He visited the stalls of 20 startups and listened to their success stories.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Prime Minister wrote: “Yesterday in Srinagar, I had the opportunity to meet talented youngsters of Jammu and Kashmir who are doing pioneering work in StartUps.”
These startups shared their stories of inclination towards entrepreneurship, innovation, and the drive that pushed them to come forward and contribute towards the entrepreneurial landscape of Jammu & Kashmir through their respective startups. The Prime Minister appreciated their efforts and urged them to work harder for the collective development of Jammu & Kashmir and the country.
Meanwhile, as a token of appreciation, these 10 startups were felicitated today with mementos on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) by the Chief Secretary J&K, Atul Dulloo (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary Industries and Commerce Department, Vikramjit Singh (IPS), and Director JKEDI, Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS) at the Kashmir Government Arts Emporium, Srinagar.
