Shopian, June 24: The 10th District Shopian Tennis Ball Cricket Championship 2026–27 concluded successfully at Government Degree College Shopian amid great enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The championship was organized by the District Shopian Tennis Ball Cricket Association under the aegis of the J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The event was held under the theme “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan”, promoting a drug-free and healthy society through sports.
The championship witnessed participation from more than 500 boys and girls competing in the Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories. In the Sub-Junior Boys category, Rose Land Harman Shopian emerged champions, while SHMI Shopian finished as runners-up. In the Sub-Junior Girls category, Royal Warriors Shopian secured the title, with Shopian Elites claiming the runners-up position.
In the Junior Boys category, SHMI Shopian lifted the championship trophy, while NPEM School Tulran Shopian finished runners-up. The Junior Girls title was won by Black Eagles Shopian Reshinagar, with IDPS Nagbal Shopian securing the runners-up position.
In the Senior Boys category, South Edge Resorts Sedow emerged champions and GDC Shopian finished runners-up. In the Senior Girls category, Star Eleven Shopian claimed the title, while Royal Club Shopian secured the runners-up spot.
The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Tariq Hussain Mir, Principal, Government Degree College Shopian, as Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included Ghulam Rasool Khanday, Incharge Sports Stadium Batpora Shopian, Malik Shabir Ahmad, Aarif Ahmad, and Malik Faizan Ahmad.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Ishrat Ishaq Naik, Organising Secretary, congratulated all participating teams and thanked the officials, guests, coaches, volunteers, and supporters for their cooperation. She also expressed gratitude to the J&K Sports Council and the J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association for their continued support in providing a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent and further strengthen the sporting culture across Jammu and Kashmir.
