Lucknow March 24 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Uttar Pradesh’s education system is undergoing a transformative shift. Among the government’s key initiatives, Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas stand out, providing quality education to underprivileged children and emerging as a model of excellence in the state.
Thanks to the efforts of the Yogi government, the number of Sarvodaya schools has significantly increased. From 93 before 2017, it has risen to 120 by 2024-25, with 100 currently operational—70 for boys and 30 for girls. Each school accommodates 490 students, benefiting thousands and shaping their futures.
Notably, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has consistently emphasized education as the most powerful tool for social transformation and nation-building. His government is expanding these schools’ reach and ensuring they maintain high education standards.
The initiative is crucial in empowering and integrating underprivileged children into the mainstream. In line with this vision, the Chief Minister has instructed authorities to upgrade Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas and ensure their full functionality.
He has also stressed the need to improve education quality further, appoint well-qualified teachers, and organise a 15-day orientation program for principals and teachers. This initiative aims to strengthen the bond between educators and students while transforming these schools into national inspiration and social harmony hubs.
These schools have been integrated into a competitive, technology-driven learning environment to align with modern educational standards. Currently, 43 schools are affiliated with the CBSE board, while 57 follow the UP Board curriculum.
The Yogi government has equipped these institutions with cutting-edge learning tools, including smart classrooms, computer labs, digital education materials, and well-stocked libraries, turning them into centers of academic excellence.
Recognizing the needs of economically weaker sections, the state government has ensured that students receive free education, residential facilities, hostels, uniforms, textbooks, stationery, daily essentials, and nutritious meals.
The admission process follows a structured reservation system, with 60% of seats reserved for Scheduled Caste students, 25% for Other Backward Classes, and 15% for the General category. This initiative directly benefits families with an annual income limit of Rs 46,080 in rural areas and Rs 56,460 in urban areas.
The government has allocated significant financial resources to sustain and expand this initiative. A budget of Rs 363.91 crore has been marked for the 2024-25 financial year, with Rs 242.39 crore already utilized. Currently, 32,538 students are benefiting from this scheme, reflecting the success of the state’s progressive education reforms.
Through these visionary steps, the Yogi government is improving education infrastructure and creating opportunities for thousands of students, empowering them with knowledge and skills for a brighter future.
