Anupamaa Fame Ishita Dixit on Independence Day, “Those mornings were full of energy, joy, and togetherness”

Actress Ishita Dixit, who essays the role of Pari in Star Plus’ much-loved show Anupamaa, says Independence Day has always been a festival of joy, unity, and nostalgia for her. Reminiscing about her childhood celebrations, she shares how the day would begin with an almost magical sense of anticipation.

She says, “I’ve always loved Independence Day mornings. There was an excitement in the air I couldn’t explain. I remember waking up to old desh bhakti songs coming from a nearby temple, where they used to prepare to hoist a flag. Those mornings were full of energy and joy. We used to dress up in costumes, practice our dance steps in front of our parents before catching the school bus with our friends.”

Ishita says the highlight of the day was always the cultural programs at school. “I always looked forward to the cultural programs at school. It felt so nice to be part of something where everyone came together as a community to celebrate oneness. And my most favourite was when we used to line up to receive those ladoos at departure time.”

For Ishita, these memories go beyond nostalgia — they are a reminder of the unity and pride that binds people together. “Even today, those memories remind me of the simple joy and pride of being part of a celebration that brings people together, no matter their differences,” she shares.
