Baramulla | July 28 2026: Baramulla Police have successfully solved a heinous rape case with the arrest of two accused persons and the recovery of crucial digital evidence used in the commission of the crime.
As per the complaint, the accused allegedly assaulted the victim’s companion and chased him away before forcibly overpowering the complainant. They allegedly sexually assaulted her one after the other while recording the act on a mobile phone before fleeing from the spot. The complainant further stated that during the incident, the accused addressed each other as “Shakir” and “Ashraf.”
During the course of investigation, PSI Menakshi, under the close supervision of the DySP Headquarters Baramulla and SHO Police Station Baramulla, carried out sustained searches and effectively utilized human intelligence and other scientific investigative techniques, leading to the identification and arrest of the two accused:
- Shakir Ahmad Lone, S/o Abdul Gani Lone, aged 22 years
- Mohammad Ashraf Dar, S/o Abdul Hamid Dar, aged 27 years, Driver.
Both are residents of Jalsheeri, Baramulla.
The accused have been taken into police custody. During sustained interrogation, both disclosed their involvement in the commission of the offence. The mobile phone allegedly used to record the crime has also been recovered from their possession.
Further investigation is underway to collect scientific, medical, digital, and other corroborative evidence in accordance with law.
