Buses equipped with Wi Fi, camera, air conditioning to be launched in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jul 26: Authorities are set to introduce a fleet of new and advanced buses on the Srinagar roads, which will be equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and designated seating areas for women and disabled individuals.
Safety measures have been enhanced with the installation of cameras inside these buses, officials said.

According to a driver, an additional safety feature is that the buses will not move forward unless all doors are completely shut. “Around 100 of these smart city buses are scheduled to be launched soon, and they will be assigned to different routes throughout the city,” said Chief Engineer of Srinagar Smart City, Iftikar Ahmed.
He said all 100 buses will be operational by October.
“These buses will be specifically focused on serving the underserved areas of the city, with additional efforts to establish connectivity with district headquarters,” he said.
“Furthermore, to ensure smooth operations, charging stations are being set up. The main charging station will be located at Panthachowk, and in the future, additional charging stations are planned for Batamaloo, TRC, Hazratbal, and Budgam Airport,” he added.
