Defence Minister gives nod for four new NCC units in J&K, Ladakh

SRINAGAR, JAN 08: In a significant development, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has given the nod to a proposal for four new NCC Units aimed at bolstering the National Cadet Corps (NCC) presence in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The approved plan entails the establishment of four additional NCC units in the strategically important regions, a move that aligns with the government’s vision to enhance the engagement of young minds in activities fostering leadership, discipline, and national service.

 “The decision is poised to create more avenues for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to actively participate in the NCC, contributing to their holistic development. The NCC, with its focus on character building, leadership, and social responsibility, has proven to be a transformative force in the lives of countless young individuals across the country,” the ministry said.

It said that the decision underscores the government’s commitment to fostering youth development and channelizing their potential towards nation-building.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the crucial role played by the NCC in shaping the future leaders of the nation.

He stated, “Expanding the footprint of the NCC in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh is a strategic move to empower our youth with skills, values, and a sense of responsibility. This decision resonates with our commitment to building a strong and disciplined cadre of young leaders.”
