Drug department raids medical shops in district Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: An inspection was conducted by a team of Drugs Control Officers comprising Shri Bilal Ahmad Rather, DCO (HQ) and Mrs. Hadiya Shah, DCO Kangan/Lar, under the close supervision of Dr. Shabeer Ahmad Bhat, Assistant Controller Drugs in the different areas of Ganderbal District. The drive was carried out to ensure the effective implementation of the Computerized Billing System (CBS), issuance of computer-generated cash memos, and installation of DVR-based CCTV cameras in medical establishments.
During the inspection, several establishments were checked. CCTV footage was scrutinized, and the records of Schedule H1 drugs, particularly NRX drugs, were verified against the physical stock. The chemist shops found operating without an effective CBS or where mismatches in records were detected were put on notice and closed down on the spot under the provisions of Section 22(d) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

The Drugs Control Department, Ganderbal, follows a zero-tolerance policy towards non-compliance of Government directives. All chemists operating in the district are mandated to install DVR-based CCTV cameras and ensure the adoption of Computerized Billing Systems with the issuance of proper cash memos to customers.
