Jammu, September 2: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu & Kashmir, warmly welcomes Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah Ji, on his visit to the Union Territory to review the situation caused by recent cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods. Manzoor bhat spokesperson BJP J&K expresses gratitude for his announcement of ₹209 crore as the Central share to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), enabling immediate large-scale relief and rehabilitation across affected regions.

During his day-long visit, Shri Amit Shah Ji chaired three key meetings at Raj Bhawan, Jammu. The first reviewed damages with senior officers of the administration. The second was held with BJP MPs and MLAs, led by UT President Shri Sat Sharma Ji. The third assessed the security situation of the UT with top officials, where he reiterated the Centre’s zero tolerance towards terrorism and lauded security forces for ensuring the safe conduct of the Shri Amarnath Yatra, which saw over 4 lakh pilgrims this year.

The Home Minister announced that advance survey teams from the Ministry of Home Affairs will soon assess damages to facilitate additional Central support. He directed the Health and Water Departments to ensure uninterrupted medical and drinking water facilities, with Army, CAPFs, and Air Force units assisting the local administration. He also instructed the Food Corporation of India to supply extra rations and explore offline delivery in connectivity-hit areas.

Ensuring Future Readiness, Shri Amit Shah Ji called for a review of Early Warning Systems (EWAs) and stronger forecasting using data analytics and Artificial Intelligence. He asked NDMA and the Meteorological Department to jointly study patterns leading to cloudbursts for a reliable early warning mechanism. Home minister emphasized on creation of the GLOF ( Glacial Lake. Outburst Flood) Early warning system which is utmost essential for J&K as such lakes are in abundance in the hilly terrain & snowclad mountains.

Earlier in the morning, Shri Amit Shah Ji visited Manguchak village, interacted with flood-affected families, and assured them of full Central assistance. He inspected damages along the Tawi riverbanks near Bikram Chowk and offered prayers at the historic Lord Shiva temple on the riverbank. He underlined that compensation for damaged homes and property would be provided swiftly, while roads, electricity, and water supply would be restored on a war footing.

Commending ongoing rescue efforts, the Home Minister praised the UT Government, Army, NDRF, J&K Police, UTDRF, and CAPFs for their coordinated response. Over 5,000 people have been evacuated, 80 percent of electricity supply restored, health facilities and relief camps are operational, and food distribution is underway. He expressed grief over the loss of more than 130 lives in the calamities and reassured the people of J&K that the Modi Government stands firmly by their side.
