To commemorate the 9th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day on 14th Jan, Gurj Division, Indian Army reached out to the veterans and Veer Naris of Samba, Kathua and Pathankot areas. Over a period of one week, troops of Gurj Division reached out to the Veterans and Veer Naris at their homes & villages and honoured them for their service to the Nation.
Gallantry awardees of various operations residing in the area were honoured. This included Col Arjun Singh Guleria who was awarded Kirti Chakra for his bravery in anti-terrorist operation in Kashmir in 1994, Col Tirath Singh, who was awarded the Vir Chakra during 1971 War, Honorary Captain Pradeep Singh of 18 Grenadiers who fought the Kargil War and many others.
This series of events transcended mere recognition; it served as a heartfelt tribute to our veterans, honed in on their well-being, and prioritised their voices within the community. Troops of Gurj Division, through these initiatives have reinforced a vital connection to our veterans, re-enforcing the Nation’s gratitude for their dedication & service to the Nation.
