BJP leader Rupesh Pandey is a regular visitor to Tarapith; prays for the nation’s welfare at the sacred cremation ground
A devoted follower of Maa Tara, BJP leader Rupesh Pandey says he finds immense peace here
Tarapith / Rampurhat, September 21, 2026 – Active Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rupesh Pandey once again visited the world-renowned Siddha-peeth (seat of spiritual power) of Tarapith Dham. Known as a staunch devotee of Maa Tara, Pandey shares a deep bond with Tarapith and has visited the shrine for darshan (worship) on numerous occasions.
Upon arriving at Tarapith on Sunday afternoon, he first performed rituals and offered prayers to Maa Tara within the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. Priests conducted the worship amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and presented him with a red chunri (sacred scarf), prasad, and mahaprasad as the Mother Goddess’s blessings.
Following the prayers, Rupesh Pandey visited the world-famous Mahashmashan (great cremation ground) situated on the banks of the Dwarka River near the temple complex. He witnessed the eternal funeral pyre and paid his respects at the sadhana sthali (place of spiritual practice) of the mystic saint Bamakhyapa. He also visited the Jivit Kund (Living Pond); it is believed that bathing in its waters can cure even incurable ailments.
Speaking to the media on this occasion, BJP leader Rupesh Pandey said, “My connection with Tarapith is not new; it goes back a long way. Whenever I find time or visit this region, I make it a point to pay my respects at the Mother’s shrine. This is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, the site where the pupil of Goddess Sati’s eye is said to have fallen. It is here that Maharshi Vashistha and the mystic Bamakhyapa attained spiritual enlightenment through intense penance.” He further said, “Visiting this place always brings immense peace and a fresh surge of positive energy. I have prayed to Maa Tara for the prosperity, peace, and well-being of the nation and the region. The Mother fulfills everyone’s wishes.”
Local BJP workers and several members of the temple committee were present with him on this occasion.
