High-Security Snow Carnival Held at Doodhpathri with Sports and Cultural Events

Budgam, Feb 18, 2026: A Snow Carnival was organized at the picturesque tourist destination of Doodhpathri in Budgam district amid tight security arrangements and joint nakas to ensure the safety of participants and visitors.
The event featured a variety of winter sports and recreational activities, including snowshoe races, skiing, snow cricket, and paragliding, attracting tourists as well as local youth in large numbers. Cultural programmes highlighting Kashmiri traditions were also organized, adding colour and vibrancy to the festival.

Given the large gathering and the strategic importance of the area, elaborate security measures were put in place. Joint nakas were established across Doodhpathri and along surrounding routes, while senior police officers remained present on the spot to supervise the overall security situation.
Officials said the event was conducted peacefully and was aimed at promoting winter tourism and adventure sports in Central Kashmir while ensuring a safe environment for both tourists and locals. The Snow Carnival not only showcased the region’s natural beauty but also strengthened confidence in tourism revival under strong security cover.
Following the reopening of Doodhpathri by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, vehicle checking and security measures have been further intensified in and around the area. Joint teams of Budgam Police and the CRPF are conducting thorough inspections at key entry and exit points to ensure public safety, regulate traffic movement, and maintain law and order. The enhanced security arrangements aim to facilitate smooth and secure visits for tourists and locals while preventing any untoward incident.
