SRINAGAR, JUNE 2, 2026 — A high-level delegation of the J&K Employees, Pensioners and Senior Citizens United Front (JKEPSCUF), led by its Chairman Rafiq Ahmad Khanyari, today met with the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) at SKICC, Srinagar, to submit a comprehensive memorandum seeking urgent economic relief.
Presenting the case before the panel, the JKEPSCUF Chairman strongly advocated for the unique socio-economic grievances of the region to be considered on humanitarian grounds. The leadership highlighted that harsh winter climates and limited local employment avenues since the 1990s have left entire households heavily reliant on pensioner incomes for survival.
Fair Pension Revision: Enhancing the minimum pension from ₹9,000 to ₹15,000 monthly to offset rising living costs and heavy winter/snowfall expenses.
Inflation-Linked Relief: Implementing regular inflation safeguards to preserve purchasing power.
Family Pension Hike: Increasing the family pension to 60% of the last pay drawn, ensuring lifelong full coverage for disabled dependents.
Uniform Parity: Eliminating discrimination based on retirement dates, strictly adhering to Supreme Court rulings.
The leadership expressed strong confidence that the 8th CPC will give top priority to these critical demands to safeguard the dignity of J&K’s senior citizens.
