J&K Police shifts injured inspector to AIIMS for advanced treatment

SRINAGAR, DEC 06: In a crucial development, the Jammu & Kashmir Police made a swift decision on Wednesday to take the Police Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani from Srinagar hospital to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for advanced medical treatment.
Inspector Wani, who had sustained injuries at the hands of terrorists a month ago in Eidgah, Srinagar, had been undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura since the incident.

The officer who was engaged in a friendly game of cricket with local boys at an Eidgah ground became the victim of a trap by assailants.
Inspector Masroor Ahmad had sustained gunshot wounds to his lungs and head during the attack.
Since then the security forces including the Jammu & Kashmir Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, aiming to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack on Inspector Masroor Ahmad.
The decision to shift Inspector Masroor to AIIMS New Delhi comes as part of an effort to provide him with specialized medical care, given the nature of the injuries sustained during the attack.
The J&K Police, in coordination with medical authorities, took this step to ensure that Inspector Wani receives the best possible treatment and care for his recovery.
The Inspector was receiving treatment at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, where medical professionals were diligently attending to his injuries.
The decision to shift Inspector Wani to AIIMS New Delhi underscores the seriousness of his condition and the importance attached to providing him with comprehensive medical intervention.
AIIMS, known for its world-class medical facilities and expertise, is expected to offer advanced treatment options to aid in Inspector Wani’s recovery process.
The J&K Police, while ensuring the safety and security of its personnel, remains committed to providing the best possible medical care for those injured in the line of duty.
The move to shift Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani to AIIMS New Delhi is a testament to this commitment and reflects the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and medical authorities to prioritize the well-being of those who serve on the front lines.
As Inspector Wani embarks on this journey for advanced treatment, the thoughts and well-wishes of the community go with him, hoping for a swift and successful recovery. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement officers and the critical importance of ensuring their health and well-being as they carry out their duties.
It is worth mentioning here that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into this ‘terrorist’ attack.
The NIA, being the apex anti-terrorism investigative agency in India, often intervenes in cases of national importance or those with cross-border implications.
Sources in the NIA said that the agency is fully committed to unravelling the circumstances surrounding this cowardly act of terrorism. “We will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. Our primary focus is to ensure that the culprits are identified, apprehended, and held accountable for their actions,” they said.
The NIA team is collaborating closely with J&K Police and other law enforcement agencies and intelligence units to gather crucial evidence, analyze forensic findings, and pursue leads that could help identify and apprehend the ‘terrorists’ responsible for the attack.
