Kharge Warns BJP: Cease Attempts to Disrupt Congress- NC Alliance

Srinagar, Sep 11: In a forceful address delivered in Srinagar on Wednesday, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge issued a stern warning to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), urging them to halt their alleged efforts to undermine political alliances and opposition parties. Kharge’s remarks come amid rising tensions in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.
“The Congress-National Conference alliance for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections has clearly unnerved the BJP,” Kharge asserted during a press conference. He accused the ruling party of resorting to underhanded tactics, including the covert support of independent candidates, in an attempt to fracture the opposition’s united front.

Kharge didn’t mince words as he reminded the BJP of its tenuous position at the Centre. “Let’s not forget, the BJP’s government isn’t the 400+ juggernaut they project. It’s a 200+ minority government precariously balanced on the support of allies like TDP and JD-U,” he pointed out. The Congress president’s statement alludes to the potential instability of the NDA coalition, suggesting that key allies could withdraw support at any moment.
In a passionate appeal to the electorate of Jammu and Kashmir, Kharge emphasized the importance of a decisive mandate. “A government with a thin majority is vulnerable to the BJP’s machinations. We’ve witnessed their tactics in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where they didn’t hesitate to engineer defections and splits within parties,” he cautioned, characterizing the BJP government as “tod phod sarkar” – one that breaks and destroys political structures.
The Congress leader didn’t stop at criticizing the BJP’s political strategies. He launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing them of failing to deliver on their promises. Kharge questioned the government’s commitment to job creation, pointing out the paradox of unfilled vacancies in Jammu and Kashmir despite grand promises of employment generation.
Kharge also took aim at what he described as the misuse of international platforms by the Prime Minister. He criticized Modi for allegedly using foreign visits as opportunities to malign the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi. The Congress president highlighted what he perceived as inconsistencies in Modi’s diplomatic engagements, from cordial meetings with Pakistan’s leadership to campaign-style endorsements in U.S. elections.
As the political temperature rises in Jammu and Kashmir, Kharge’s statements reflect the Congress party’s strategy to consolidate opposition unity while exposing what they see as the vulnerabilities of the BJP-led government. With elections on the horizon, the Congress president’s forceful rhetoric signals an intensifying battle for political supremacy in this crucial region.
The coming weeks are likely to see further escalation in political discourse as parties jockey for position in what promises to be a closely watched electoral contest. Kharge’s warnings about the potential for political instability and his calls for a strong, united opposition have set the stage for a high-stakes showdown in Jammu and Kashmir.
