Anantnag, May 20: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police on Tuesday arrested an alleged notorious heroin supplier during naka checking at Dialgam and recovered contraband substance believed to be heroin from his possession.
According to police, a naka was established by a team from Police Post Dialgam at Chechripora Bypass Crossing for routine checking. During the operation, a suspicious person travelling from Anantnag towards Bondialgam attempted to flee after noticing the police party.
Police officials said the naka party acted swiftly and apprehended the suspect tactfully on the spot.
During the search, officers recovered a heroin-like contraband substance from his possession. The accused was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar alias “Christian”, son of Gull Mohammad Dar, a resident of Nanil area of Anantnag.
Police have registered FIR No. 149/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been initiated.Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, Anantnag Police urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug peddling and illegal narcotics activities.(KNC)
