Baramulla, August 9: The non-gazetted employees of Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla staged a peaceful protest today, demanding immediate formulation of Service Recruitment Rules – a demand pending for the last six years. It is pertinent to mention that 3375 posts for new five medical colleges were created by cabinet decision and subsequently vide order no: 575-HME-2017 dated: 23/10/2017.In this regard, an Executive order for one-time recruitment was issued by JKHME for the indent of the said posts to JKSSB vide no:133-JKHME-2018 dated: 19-02-2018.
However, the employees, who were appointed through the Jammu and Kashmir Servicc Selection Board (JKSSB) when five new GMCs were established in the Union Territory, expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay in framing of recruitment rules. It is pertinent to mention that several committees from time to time were framed by JKHME for actual pay scales and finalization of recruitment rules but till date no action in this regard has been taken. “Several representations to the Department of Hcalth and Medical Education were submitted through official mediums, but unfortunately, nothing fruitful has emerged so far,” the protestors said.
The protest vas deliberately held during off-hours to avoid hampering patient care. However, the employees warned that if justice is not done and their demands are ignored, they will be compelled to resort to strikes.
