Karwani Islami International Resolute in Its Fight Against Drug Abuse; Allama Hami Addresses Thousands in Pulwama
In the modern era, material progress and the culture of individualism it has fostered have opened up new avenues for the growth, development, and advancement of young men and women. However, it is equally undeniable that, in the relentless pursuit of material prosperity, the younger generation is increasingly distancing itself from the social traditions, refined conduct, and ethical principles of its forebears, dismissing them as outdated. Consequently, young people are gradually losing touch with the moral and spiritual values that once served as the foundation of a harmonious society. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why contemporary society is grappling with drug abuse and numerous other social evils. Every conscientious individual is deeply concerned with finding effective ways to bring about meaningful social reform at the grassroots level, ensuring a secure, successful, and promising future for the younger generation. These observations were made by Allama Dr. Shaykh Ghulam Rasool Hami, Chief of Karwani Islami International, while addressing a gathering of thousands of people in Pulwama on Friday. On the occasion, Allama Hami paid special tribute to the revered Sufis, Awliya Allah, and Rishis of the Kashmir Valley. He emphasised that, owing to the noble endeavours and spiritual legacy of these illustrious personalities, Kashmir continues to stand as a living embodiment of tolerance, mutual respect, and fraternal harmony. He stressed the urgent need to pass on this exemplary tradition to the younger generation, enabling them to appreciate and uphold the values that have historically enriched Kashmir’s social and spiritual fabric. Speaking about the importance of fostering exemplary character and virtuous conduct among young people, Allama Hami stated that familiarising the younger generation with the lives, exemplary conduct, and teachings of the Awliya and Sufis has become an imperative of our time. He observed that building a society founded on high moral standards requires not only material resources and intellectual advancement but also the strengthening of its spiritual, intellectual, and ethical foundations. It is, therefore, essential to understand the teachings of the eminent spiritual masters of the nation and translate their timeless principles into practice in everyday life. Allama Hami further observed that, in an age when knowledge can be disseminated and documented with unprecedented speed, the promotion of moral and spiritual education must not remain confined to educational institutions and traditional centres of learning. Instead, institutions and individuals associated with every influential sphere of society can play a constructive role in nurturing ethical awareness, strengthening spiritual consciousness, and cultivating a sense of social responsibility among young people. Addressing the issue of drug abuse, Allama Hami categorically reaffirmed Karwani Islami’s unwavering commitment to combating this grave social menace. He stated that the organisation remains firmly determined to contribute meaningfully to the eradication of drug abuse through its organisational initiatives and collective efforts. He further emphasised that individuals associated with Karwani Islami International are equally committed to undertaking every possible measure against drug abuse at the individual level. Reaffirming the organisation’s resolve, Allama Hami maintained that Karwani Islami International would continue to pursue this mission with determination and dedication in the future. He stressed that the effective eradication of drug abuse cannot be the sole responsibility of the government and its institutions. Rather, lasting success can be achieved only through the active participation, collective responsibility, and sustained cooperation of all capable, conscientious, and socially responsible institutions and individuals. He underscored the need for a united societal response to drug abuse, emphasising that meaningful and sustainable change requires collective action, moral awareness, and a shared commitment to safeguarding the future of the younger generation.
