Social entrepreneur Nitu Joshi has been honoured with the prestigious Rashtriya Harit Gaurav Puraskar in recognition of her outstanding contribution to environmental conservation, plantation drives, and rural social development through MIAM Charitable Trust.
The award was presented at a national event held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, organized by Kalpataru Sanstha under the leadership of Vishnu Lamba. Jaipur Collector Sandesh Naik conferred the honour in the presence of Padma Shri Jagdish Parekh and noted environmentalist Padma Shri Sundaram Verma.
Receiving the award, Nitu Joshi congratulated Vishnu Lamba and the organizing team for creating a platform that recognizes individuals and organizations working for environmental and social transformation.
Founded in 2022, MIAM Charitable Trust has emerged as a grassroots-driven organization working across environment conservation, education, women’s empowerment, animal welfare, and rural development. One of its most notable achievements has been the plantation of nearly five lakh trees in Gadchiroli district, an initiative that has received appreciation and encouragement from senior government authorities, including the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
The plantation campaign has focused not only on increasing green cover but also on creating awareness about environmental protection, oxygen generation, and sustainable living among local communities. The trust continues to undertake activities aimed at preserving ecological balance and promoting a greener future.
Beyond environmental initiatives, MIAM Charitable Trust has been actively working with tribal communities. The organization provides skill-development training to Adivasi women in areas such as tailoring, food processing, plantation management, handicrafts, cooking, and self-employment activities, helping them become financially independent.
Education and youth development have become another major pillar of the trust’s work. Through career guidance, educational support, and physical training programs, the organization helps students from tribal and economically weaker backgrounds prepare for government service opportunities.
According to the trust, nearly 40 young men and women have successfully secured positions in the Police, Army, and other government departments after receiving mentoring, educational assistance, and physical training through its initiatives.
The trust is also involved in animal welfare activities, including the care of stray animals, while continuing to support children, rural families, and environmental awareness projects across Maharashtra.
Before dedicating herself extensively to social service, Nitu Joshi built a successful career spanning more than two decades in the entertainment industry. A producer and entrepreneur, she has been associated with several notable film and television projects and is well known in media circles for her contribution to content production.
Reflecting on the recognition, Nitu Joshi said:
“God has given me an opportunity to serve. The values given by my parents, the support of my husband and the encouragement of my son have been my biggest strengths. Whatever I have achieved has been possible because of people who trusted and supported me. If society continues to support these efforts, I want to do even more meaningful work in the years ahead.”
The honour is being viewed as recognition not only of Nitu Joshi’s environmental initiatives but also of the growing impact of MIAM Charitable Trust, whose work continues to transform lives through plantation drives, education, women’s empowerment, youth development, and community welfare across Maharashtra.
