As part of its ongoing Disaster Management Training Programme, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) conducted a series of practical training sessions and awareness activities for students of the University of Jammu, who are undergoing a one-week Basic Disaster Management Training at SDRF Battalion Headquarters, Jammu.
The training programme is being conducted under the overall guidance of Sh. Mohd. Aslam, IPS, Commandant SDRF Jammu, and the supervision of Sh. Rohit Dev Singh, Dy.SP (Trainings), SDRF Jammu.
💎 Exposure to NDRF Equipment and Emergency Response:
During the training, students were provided practical exposure to various aspects of disaster response and emergency management. As part of the programme, the trainees visited CTI, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, where an NDRF Company is stationed. The NDRF team demonstrated various High Value Equipment (HVE) and explained their utility and significance in different disaster and emergency situations.
The Assistant Commandant, NDRF, also sensitized the students on important aspects of disaster management, emergency response and rescue operations. Sh. Dev Raj, Dy.SP and Principal, CTI, interacted with the students and briefed them on the importance of community awareness and preparedness.
💎 Water Rescue and Boat-Handling Exercises:
As part of the practical component of the training, water exercises and boat-handling activities were conducted to enhance the rescue skills and operational preparedness of the trainees. The exercises focused on the safe and effective handling of boats, basic rescue techniques and appropriate response during flood-like situations and other water-related emergencies.
💎 Basic Disaster-Response Awareness:
The students were also sensitized on the importance of basic disaster-response awareness and responsible participation during emergencies. They were advised to prioritize their own safety while using appropriate knowledge and skills to provide timely assistance to family members, relatives and others in need until professional rescue agencies arrive.
💎 Community Awareness and Anti-Corruption Programme:
In continuation of its community-awareness initiatives, the SDRF Component Reasi conducted an Awareness Camp-cum-Anti-Corruption Lecture/Demonstration at Government Middle School, Kanskhassan, Zone Pouni.
During the programme, students and teachers were sensitized on various important topics, including Disaster Management, CPR, choking, snakebite safety, earthquake preparedness, firefighting, anti-corruption measures and vigilance awareness.
The ongoing training and awareness initiatives reflect SDRF’s continued efforts towards strengthening practical disaster-response capabilities, enhancing preparedness, promoting community resilience and creating greater awareness about safety measures and effective response during emergencies.
