The Maj Gopi Singh Rathore, SC Memorial North Kashmir Football Premier League culminated today after a week-long celebration of football, witnessing an impressive participation of 68 teams from across North Kashmir.
The tournament was organised by Indian Army across Bandipora, Uplona, Kigaon and Sopore, providing a competitive platform for young footballers to showcase their talent, discipline, teamwork and sporting spirit. The week-long championship witnessed intense competition, spirited performances and enthusiastic support from football lovers and local communities.
The tournament not only provided an opportunity for budding footballers to compete at a wider platform but also promoted sportsmanship, camaraderie and positive engagement of youth through sports. The enthusiastic participation across the North Kashmir reflected the growing sporting potential and passion for football among the youth.
Following the successful completion of the league phase, the top two teams from each location have qualified for the Mega Football Championship, tentatively scheduled to be held at Bandipora in November 2026. The eight qualifying teams will now vie for the coveted championship title in the concluding phase of the tournament.
The culmination of the league marks not an end, but the beginning of the next and most-awaited chapter, as the stage is now set for the Mega Football Championship at Bandipora to be conducted wef 09 Nov to 13 Nov 2026.
