Sopore, August 22, 2026: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
During naka checking at Super Bazar Crossing, Sopore, a suspicious individual was intercepted. During his personal search, psychotropic substance was recovered and seized in accordance with due legal procedure.
The accused has been identified as Hanan Fayaz Bhat S/O Fayaz Ahmad Bhat R/O Badshah Masjid, Batpora, Sopore.
Accordingly, FIR No. 207/2026 under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to sustained action against drug peddlers to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
