In Anantnag district, 64 candidates are competing, while Pulwama has 45, Doda 27, and Kulgam 25. The largest number of candidates are contesting in Anantnag, Shopian, and Kishtwar districts.
To ensure a safe and fair election, police have made extensive security arrangements.
The IGP Kashmir said, “We have ensured that the elections are held in a peaceful atmosphere, allowing people to vote freely and securely. Our focus is on providing a safe environment to encourage high voter turnout.”
A senior official of Election Commission of India (ECI) said they have made adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of polls. “Adequate security forces have been deployed around polling booths. Besides CCTVs have also been installed in polling booths. We are committed to ensure free and fair elections,” the official added.
