Commercial gas prices cut by 150
SRINAGAR, SEP 01: As people in Kashmir are bearing the brunt of inflation and rising eatable prices, the cut in cooking gas prices has come as a breather for consumers in the Valley.
The women of Kashmir have applauded the government’s reduction of home cooking gas costs by Rs 200 per cylinder because it has raised hopes among them that, with elections just around the corner, the government would further lower prices of necessities, which will lighten their budget and enable them to save more.
“It is a commendable action on the part of the central government. My home had smart metres installed, and because I only cook on gas stoves, my gas expenses have significantly increased. The government’s recent price reductions provide consumers a reprieve,” according to homemaker Rabiya.
The reduction in cooking gas prices has been welcomed by all as it affects the pockets of every household.
“Though it is late, but a welcome step. Hope petroleum and other essential prices are also slashed like this, to cool off inflation,” said Ajaz Ahmad, a Soura resident.
The Union Government has reduced the cost of home cooking gas by Rs 200 per cylinder in anticipation of the upcoming elections in five states later this year. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is “a gift to crores of my sisters of the country on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.” He also stated that the government will always make every effort to raise the standard of living for all citizens and help the underprivileged and middle class.
