SRINAGAR, OCT 27: A court in Srinagar convicted and sentenced a man to six month’s simple imprisonment and imposed a fine to the tune of rupees double the cheque amount, Rs.6,52000, in a cheque bounce case.
Judge Small Causes Srinagar Tabasum convicted and sentenced Mohd Maqbool Lone of Tarzoa Sopore, observing essential ingredients of Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act stand established by the complainant—Ramesh Kumar Vasandani Through its Authorized Attorney Holder Aat present Chanapora Srinagar.
The court also sentenced him by way of a fine to the tune of rupees double the cheque amount which amount equals to Rs.6,52000.
According to the plea, the complainant had paid advance money to the accused in connection with apple business. However after a few years, the business ties did not remain the same and finally after the settlement of accounts, an amount of Rs. 3,26000 (Three lac Twenty Six thousand) were found outstanding against the accused. The accused had issued a cheque to the complainant in 2020 which was dishonoured.
