Baramulla Gingal Uri 16 Jan 2026: As testimony of being vigilant Gingle Garrison of GMG BN received a distress call at 0735H from Mr Rustam of Dwaran Village that a severe fire occurred at house of Mr Sajawat Khan and is spreading to the surrounding houses of Mr Mohd Afsal and Mr Javir.
Dagger Divison troops from Gingal garrison swiftly responded to the distress call and were at incident site at 0750H. While the Quick Reaction Teams secured the area, the fire fighting teams along with civilian youth volunteers used the fire extinguishers and water from army water bowser to douse the raging fire and controlled it from spreading to the surrounding houses.
It is likely that the fire would have started due to an electric short circuit from within the house belonging to Mr Sajawat Khan (50yrs).
The quick response initiative not only saved civilian lives but also prevented it from spreading to neighboring houses and minimizing damage to property. The local youth, neighbours and fire truck from Fire Department Uri accentuated the efforts besides helping in salvaging the belongings.
Local populace and family members of Mr Sajawat Khan and neighbours expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army for the prompt response and selfless service, saving precious lives and belongings.
