Sopore, 24 October, 2026: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended one drug peddler during patrolling in the jurisdiction of Police Post Bus Stand and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
During patrolling at Neharpora-Shalimar Colony Link Road, one suspicious individual was intercepted. During the personal search, psychotropic substance was recovered and seized in accordance with due legal procedure.
The accused has been identified as Asif Yousuf Shah S/O Mohammad Yousuf Shah R/O Neharpora Sopore.
Accordingly, FIR No. 271/2026 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to sustained action against drug peddlers to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
