Vadodara, Sep 08: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called upon the people, particularly the youth, to make the goal of a developed India by 2047 the central focus of their efforts, saying the country was witnessing an unprecedented period of growth driven by infrastructure, manufacturing, technology and youth power.
Addressing the ‘Namo for Viksit Bharat’ programme in Vadodara, Modi said India’s development journey needed faster connectivity, greater manufacturing capacity, skilled youth and technological self-reliance.
He said the completion of more than 2,800 km of the Dedicated Freight Corridor marked a major milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation. The corridor, he said, was strengthening the country’s logistics ecosystem, reducing transportation time and costs and creating new opportunities for economic growth.
Modi also highlighted the government’s focus on manufacturing, saying India was moving towards a new era of self-reliance “from chip to ship”. He cited the growth of domestic solar manufacturing and the expansion of rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar scheme as examples of this transformation.
Emphasising the importance of youth in the Viksit Bharat journey, the Prime Minister said skills were becoming increasingly important alongside formal degrees. He announced plans for free online coaching by leading teachers for students preparing for competitive examinations.
He also stressed the need to equip young Indians with artificial intelligence skills, saying AI could create opportunities across agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, robotics and startups. “The goal of a developed India in 2047 must remain supreme. We must make India developed,” Modi said, calling for collective efforts to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat.
