The arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan brings immense blessings and joy to the entire Muslim Ummah. According to the teachings of Islam, every Muslim is obligated during this month to take account of their daily actions and make a firm intention to improve both their personal and public life. The purpose of this month is not only to perform righteous deeds but also to practically uphold the limits set by Allah Almighty, so that this same standard of living can be maintained throughout the entire year. These points were expressed by Chief of Karwani Islami International Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami while addressing thousands of people at the Central Jamia Masjid in Wusan Kangan Ganderbal on the auspicious occasion of blessed Friday. In a special message on the occasion of Ramadan’s arrival, Allama Hami stated that this blessed month is adorned with goodness, blessings, and well-being. He urged that every person should strive with full effort to be filled with the subtleties and blessings of this month and spend their time seeking forgiveness and well-being from Allah Almighty. Explaining the objectives of the month of Ramadan, Hami said that just as great emphasis is placed with intensity and dedication on performing virtuous actions, words, and matters during this month, the fundamental purpose is to establish and sustain the spirit of God-consciousness (taqwa) in people permanently. It also aims to strengthen the social bonds of mutual equality and human brotherhood so that, alongside success in the Hereafter, worldly life too can become a haven of peace and security. Hami emphasized that Islam is a vast, universal religion that condemns extremism and sectarianism, ensuring that every individual in society upholds human values and rights with integrity. He expressed deep regret and sorrow that, at a time when uniting the various sections of the Ummah is absolutely essential in the present era, there are still individuals actively engaged in inflaming simple minded people over mutual differences, which can endanger unity. The respected scholar said that distorting the nature of points of disagreement and spreading doubts and suspicions among the general public is in no way in the interest of religion or the Ummah. Instead, the need of the hour is to keep unity and mutual tolerance alive and thriving within the Ummah despite differences. He noted that the month of Ramadan not only emphasizes the practical implementation of acts of worship and recommended deeds at both individual and collective levels but also imparts fundamental lessons in social and moral superiority, mutual empathy, and generosity. Meanwhile, Allama Hami strongly stressed that the complete eradication of drug use and the drug trade in the state is essential under all circumstances. For this, influential individuals in public circles must commit themselves fully. In his compassionate appeal, he called on everyone to expand efforts to curb drugs and play their role in building a healthy society.
