UG admissions in J&K GDCs from today

Srinagar, May 09: The Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday commenced online registrations for the 2026-27 academic session for four-year undergraduate (FYUGP) and five-year integrated postgraduate programmes across all 142 government degree colleges in the Union Territory.

Officials said the centralised admission portal — jkadmissions.in — was activated at 11 am. Students can register and submit their college and programme preferences until 7 pm on May 27.

Admissions to more than 60 major subjects will be based strictly on Class 10+2 merit, they added.The first merit list will be published on May 30, with admission and fee payment scheduled from June 1 to June 6, an official release said. The second merit list will be released on June 9, with formalities to be completed by June 15.

A spot round for leftover seats will be held from June 18 to June 25.Classes in winter zone colleges will commence on June 15, while summer zone colleges will begin on July 15.Officials said the programmes are aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and offer multiple exit options. Students may exit after the first year with a certificate, after the second year with a diploma, after the third year with a degree, or complete the fourth year with honours or honours with research. The framework also allows direct PhD admission for those completing the four-year honours with research programme.

A non-refundable registration fee of Rs 1,200 has been fixed, the release said. Candidates must upload scanned copies of Class 10th and 12th marksheets, a passport-size photograph, Aadhaar number, domicile certificate (if available), and category certificate (if applicable).

Director Colleges J&K, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, appealed to aspirants and parents to read the detailed admission notice and registration manual carefully before filling preferences. He urged them to make full use of counselling and facilitation centres set up at every degree college.

For real-time updates, the directorate has launched a dedicated WhatsApp channel for admissions 2026-27, officials said.
