Mumbai, Sep 26 : A quick rapid-fire round with -Duo grandpa-Anil Dhawan and granddaughter Anjini Dhawan-
- Veteran actor Anil Dhawan who is Anjini Dhawan’s grandfather is a famous actor of the 70’s,80’s, 90’s era. He is known to have given many hit films .Also known for doing adult films like ,” Do Raha” and “Chetna”. These films were much ahead of their time. Undeniably, in this male dominated film industry a man can accept to do an adult film but they will not prefer or advise their own daughters to do any such films-clearly we can see its a male chauvinist industry. We caught the duo grandpa [ Anil Dhawan] and granddaughter Anjini Dhawan together for a rapid-fire round- Read what Anil Dhawan had to say when asked if he would advise his granddaughter to take up his adult film,” Do Raha” if it is remade- if she is approached? Anjini-Veteran actor Anil Dhawan who is Anjini Dhawan’s grandfather lives in her building so Anjini rushes to take any minutest advice from him, “Yes, since my grandfather lives in our building, I run for everything to him. Also, especially, from the time I was planning to join the world of Glitz and glamour. Even if I do any audition I go and discuss with him first and after fairing for the audition as well.
Anjini-We inquisitively ask if you have watched his film,” Do Raha” which was much ahead of its time,” I haven’t watched his film, “Do Raha”. Abhi aap ne pucha hai toh- I will have to watch it as it’s much ahead of its time. My grandparents are very understanding and modern yet have inculcated all the ethical values in us.
Anil Dhawan -Yes, we live in the same building. Anjini is very close to me and she has always been taking advice from me, Especially, from the time she started assisting David [Dhawan] for Coolie No 1. And she better keep taking advice from me. I am happy that her debut film, ‘Binny and Family’ is releasing on 27th.I have watched the film. Anjini has done a good job. She made me cry. Hope the audiences like the film
Anil Dhawan- On his latest advice as she debuts, he says,” Nothing – work hard, be disciplined, enjoy your work. We The Dhawans’ have been like that- David followed the same mantra. Varun [Dhawan] is also very disciplined, hard working. Actually, the entire Family of ours is like that. We have always maintained a low key; we did our work sincerely as we were passionate about it and quietly finishing our work went home. We have never spoken or praised ourselves. It is the audience who judges your work
Anil Dhawan-Adding more about work ethics he gushes,” There is nothing, you need to work sincerely- ek hi show mein audiences’ Aapki aukat bata deti hai.”
Lastly, we quiz -Would you advise Anjini to do the remake of,” Do Raha’, if it is remade? Pat, he replies,” Woh bahut purani film hai,” Do Raste” is an adult film-I won’t advise her to do it.”
Anjini Dhawan who learnt every sphere of film making while assisting director David Dhawan in Coolie No1 is all set to enthral the audiences with her debut film, “Binny and Family,” is a coming-of-age story of two generations. The film is backed by Ekta Kapoor ‘Balaji Films”. Playing the character of Binny who lives in London she represents the character of a rebellious teenage girl. ,“Binny and Family,” is set to release in theatres on 27th,September,2024.
