For Peddi, Ram Charan Didn’t Just Act He Endured
Ram Charan Takes Real Hits for Peddi
Ram Charan’s commitment to authenticity in Peddi came at a painful physical cost. The actor sustained multiple injuries while filming the intense wrestling portions of Buchi Babu Sana’s upcoming drama, including a wrist cartilage tear and an injury above his left eye.
Known for his commitment to authenticity, the superstar insisted on using real wrestlers for several sequences in the film. Many of them struggled to “pull punches” during takes because their sporting instincts would naturally take over in the scenes. The aggressive grappling and realistic wrestling movements repeatedly resulted in hard-impact collisions, with the wrestlers often apologising to the actor after takes for unintentionally hurting him during the sequences.
The physically demanding shoot reportedly left Ram Charan dealing with lingering pain even after filming wrapped. The actor revealed that the constant grappling during the wrestling sequences caused tremors and severe strain in his injured hand, making even simple movements painful post-shoot.
Set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s and 90s, Peddi is described as an emotional period-action drama that follows an ordinary laborer played by Ram Charan, fighting for the pride, identity, and survival of his marginalized community against oppressive forces.
