Indian Army Organises Mega Iftar Parties Across Kashmir, Strengthening Bonds with People

Kashmir, March 20, 2026: During the holy month of Ramadan, the Indian Army organised a series of mega Iftar parties across multiple districts of Kashmir, fostering a spirit of unity, compassion, and mutual respect.

Iftar gatherings were held in several areas including Anantnag, Shopian, Sopore, Baramulla, Handwara, Kupwara, Pulwama, Budgam, Bandipora, and Ganderbal. These events witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, with thousands of youth, elderly citizens, political representatives, administrative officials, and police personnel joining in large numbers to take part in the communal prayers and Iftar meals.

In a special outreach initiative, the Army also organised dedicated Iftar parties for orphan children in Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, and Pampore area of South Kashmir, offering them care, warmth, and a sense of belonging during the holy month. The children interacted with Army Officials making the occasion both joyful and memorable.

The Iftar events were particularly significant in militancy-affected areas, where such gatherings played an important role in strengthening ties between the Army and the local population (Awam). The initiative aimed at promoting peace, harmony, and community engagement across the region.

The practice of organising and attending Iftar gatherings has multiple positive outcomes. It helps strengthen civil-military ties at the grassroots level, promotes communal harmony, and demonstrates respect for local traditions. These engagements bring together a diverse section of society, including elders, youth, and community leaders, fostering a spirit of camaraderie, mutual respect, and cooperation.

March this year, the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, along with its Rashtriya Rifles (RR) units, hosted Iftar parties at various locations across North, South, and Central Kashmir, further reinforcing outreach efforts.

Locals appreciated the initiative, noting that such events reflect the true spirit of Ramadan while helping build trust and goodwill. The events concluded with a shared message of brotherhood, unity, and hope for lasting peace in the region.
